Made it to rank 30 in MW2 this morning, but if the lag situation doesn't get any better I might go back to MW1. This sh*t is ridiculous.

On PC, nothing to do with my ISP though. The makers of the game have moved to a console style matchmaking system rather than keep the traditional server-based approach, which means rather than having a list of servers for me to browse through and pick, I have to choose from IWnet's chosen gametypes/rulesets rather than choose a server which does things the way I want to.
It also results in lag due to the fact that Joe Random is the host, rather than a dedicated machine with a good internet connection.

Well I can definately see how that would be frustrating you'd think they'd give you the server choice being you on a PC but I'm sure it will get better for you.

I wasn't trying to blame your ISP that was just for general interest.

Funnily enough, my favourite guns so far are the M4A1 and the RPD. Also have a P90 sprayfest profile but don't use it very much. I snipe a lot less in MW2 compared to MW1, there's too many gimmicks like thermal vision and heartbeat sensors. I think MW1 was perfect for competitive play, just the right mix of brains/skill needed to win, whereas MW2 focuses more on being able to predict where someone is going to be than skill. MW2 seems to encourage camping and other "unsporting" behavious. I don't have a problem with camping in objective based games like CTF or domination, as a matter of fact I think you'd be crazy not to, but camping in TDM/FFA is just annoying.

MW1 was damn near perfect for me. Remove marty and the grenade launcher and I wouldn't play another game ever again.

though i must say i quite enjoy the satisfaction of getting a rocket kill

Started playing Forza 3 today it's great fun.

Up to rank 39 now, starting to get more fun. I stick to objective games now, TDM is just frustrating. As you learn the maps it gets a lot easier too.

Also, if anyone else is playing this, unlock emergency airdrop ASAP. It's awesome. Best killstreak so far. AC130 is all well and good, but EA is much easier to get and you'll get 4 random killstreak rewards. So much better value.
