Hey guys, nothing really special but I'm bored so I figured I'd post pics of the torrent box I just put together. It's my parents old PC which I just replaced for them, plus an 8" touch screen (slightly dodgy) that I bought 2 years ago for a carPC install that never eventuated.
It's all sitting in my cupboard except the touch screen, which sits nicely on my desk. Anyway, a picture's worth a thousand words so without further ado:
This is the power for the touch screen. It was made for america and shipped with an american wall wart, but seeing as it's low power and only needs 12v I soldered up a molex plug that I had lying around. The touch screen turns on, works, and I can't smell any smoke so it's going okay so far
That's the actual PC. No side panels or front panels means I don't have to worry about intake/exhaust fans. I'll just take it up to the shed once or twice a year to blow the insides out with compressed air and she'll be right.
Touch screen next to my monitor. Still has my parents HDD in the PC so you can see Molly and a teddy chillin.
As for the "slightly dodgy" part, the touch screen was purchased as damaged (bloke I bought it off described the damage really well, I knew what I was buying). In the end, all it really does is make the monitor a 7" touch screen instead. There's about a 2/3 of an inch strip along the right hand side that's buggered. Once you dick about with some settings you can get the full screen showing on the good part and then just recalibrate the touch screen and it's all good. _________________ 82 VH wagon, 202 blue. 2x12" Alpine type S attached to an Eaudio1000D, pushing 1,000wRMS @ 1ohm. nice, i used to have a torrent box / web server / ftp server, but it stopped working and i couldnt be bothered fixing it.
i've got more then enough bits to build a few of them if i ever wanted, but meh.
hit us up if you need any older computer parts for it, such as sd or ddr ram, ide hdd's cd drives, psu's, network cards or whatever.
good fun playing with old computers _________________

I am looking for a gigabit network card, the mobo doesn't have onboard network and all I have is a 10/100 USB adapter. Not a major issue as the modem/router I use is only 10/100 but once I make the move to ADSL2 I'll be getting a new modem.
Looking for a RAID card or similar too so I can use SATA hard drives, seeing as all the decent sized HD's these days are SATA. _________________ 82 VH wagon, 202 blue. 2x12" Alpine type S attached to an Eaudio1000D, pushing 1,000wRMS @ 1ohm. haha, nah, i dont have any gigabit network cards, its all onboard these days I can give you a pci 10/100 network card if you want, i have a bunch of them.
i do also have a card i got from ebay, pci card.
1xIDE, 2xsata supports raid 0 and 1 on the sata.
it was about $12 from ebay, and worked fine, never had a problem with it, and yea, used it when i ran about 7 hdd's
so i would suggest just buying one yourself from ebay, cause i dunno if i have the driver disk for mine anymore (it worked plug aand play, but needed drivers for raid i think) _________________

Sweet, sounds like a plan. I won't worry bout a network card, I've got the USB thing, it's done ok for the last 7 years or so. _________________ 82 VH wagon, 202 blue. 2x12" Alpine type S attached to an Eaudio1000D, pushing 1,000wRMS @ 1ohm. What's the PSU sitting on the ground powering? I'm a fan of your ingenious cooling system too. _________________ 82 VH wagon, 202 blue. 2x12" Alpine type S attached to an Eaudio1000D, pushing 1,000wRMS @ 1ohm.
