Ok she got a scrub down on saturday and tomorrow im going to
1- move the driver's seat back a bit ( former owner was short ).
2- Hook up my pioneer mp3 cd player in the dash with the weather proof front case.
3- cover and pad the rear wooden seat.
4- make sure all lights are working.
5- remove dodgey modifacations from underneath the back of the hull.
6- rewire a new trailer plug ( the last one was stolen )
7- regrease all the trailer rollers and check them over for wear.
8- Mount and wire in the boat cb ( whatever its called )

So yeah i have plenty to do before she goes for the first sea voyage.

So i have completed mods to the boat and taken her on her maiden voyage. But! i have been dissapointed , the boat got up on the plaine twice and then because of the extra load on the prop ,the motor began to die down and it just wouldnt go properly any more. After consaltation with the local boat mechanic, he said that the markham whaler 3.8 twin hull is designed to have the motor mounted off to one side. Yes i know this sounds funny but after much research i have found he is right. I found the original manufacturer's of the boat and gave them a call and they say that it is very true and i can mount my 50 horse motor on the left rear of the transom or where the motor mounts. I will try to get photo,s as i go on this journey but its a head scratcher.

As you can see by this picture this is how the people who build these boats recomend i mount my motor. But in answer to tm yes two motors would be ideal but expensive and it doesnt really matter as you can just run one and its still verry stable.

Ok this boat is starting to stress me out. I was talking to my friend the other day standing behind the boat, i lent on the top of the motor and my mate says to me whats that burning smell. We then discovered smoke coming from the case on the motor, so i quickly sprung into action and ripped the cover off to discover that the lead from the battery to the starter motor had been rubbing on a bolt and had arced out and was on fire!!!!!!!!!!

So i put it out quickly and there was minmal damage done. Just a little bit of sheilding on the cable had melted and that was it. Verry lucky.

To further stress me out i was sitting in my loungeroom the other night when i started to hear this whining noise coming from outside like hydraulics! when i went outside i discovered the boat motor was completely horizontal off the back of the boat and the hydraulics were stuck full on in the up position. Turns out the switch is dicky. What a week!!!!!
