This is going to cause alot of debate but i found a review on alot of brands, this may be a good topic starter for ppl's personal experiences on different brands, have fun and play nice Smile

Quote:

Audio Brands
Pioneer - Good AV Systems.
- Bodgy Speakers.
- Good Entry Level Head Units
- Amplifiers are a bit lacking.
- Subs are really average quality sounding

Alpine - Speakers are moderate build quality
- Head Units are the best in the price range low down.
- Subwoofers are of moderate build quality
- AV Systems are there best side
- Amplifiers are moderate as well.
- There F1 Status Gear is $$$$$$$$ but top notch

Sony - Make a reasonable entry level head unit
- Should stick to making Mini Hi-Fi's and Televisions
- All there speaker range is nasty build quality all round

Kenwood - Never found an area of car audio to excel at
- All reasonable gear but never anything super special

Boss Audio - Good budget amplifiers that do the job.

Sansui - Never

Super Sound - Never

Jaycar - The best budget gear you will find in amplifiers
- There subs hit pretty hard for there price
- There split range is a little lacking but good for the $$$

Boston Acoustics - Speaker Quality is top notch and well priced.
- New Amp range is out and looks the goods.
- Home Theatre gear rocks
- Z Ref Series are Phenomenal
- Pro series and Comp series subs are superbly built.

Hertz - Best Speaker makers in my opinion. Especially there ESK's
- There Subwoofers hit really well and handle a lot of power.
- Built to last a lifetime if treated well.
- Need to build there name more in Oz

Audison - The best amps on the face of the earth but they are $$$$$$$

Morel - A strong contender in making top notch components

MB Quart - As Morel...

Crossfire - There stuff is much like Kicker and MTX it's all American, it's all loud and big and can handle a flogging but delivers a more loud sound over precision.

MTX - See Above

Kicker - See Above

Coustic - Make a good budget range also but look a bit cheap and nasty.

Tru Technology - There amp range is new to Oz and is up there with Audison in quality and volume.

PPI - Make top notch amps but are hard to find.... There subs are also big on sound and precision bass.

Xtant - See PPI.

DynAudio - Everything in there range is top notch but $$$$ (well worth it tho)

Eclipse - See DynAudio... There Head Units are pure gold and there new AV Systems are tops.

Focal - The infamous speaker creators are known for top quality component sets and are a good price for performance. There Utopia series are superb but about $1700 a set.

Rockford Fosgate - Much like MTX and other American places. Loud and good but lack precision in the search for volume.

Fusion - Average gear and well priced accordingly. There subs are not too shabby and there Lomu series are crazy. But there overall status has some really nasty products in the line up. Lots of flash and no performance to back it up etc.....

JL Audio - There subs and splits are impressive and well priced.

Phoenix Gold - All of there gear costs you a leg but is always top notch. Especially there amplifier series. The Ti and the Tantrums are great.

Cerwin Vega - Infamous for the Stroker Series Subs. They make some good and some bad but are well priced and do the job.

Clarion - See Kenwood.

Lanzar - See Kenwood. Also make a nice Equaliser.

Orion - Top subs and there amps are quite goodly too.

DLS - Really nice component sets.

JVC - See Kenwood or Clarion. Make a nice Head Unit.....

Blaupunkt - Never excelled but make a nice amp and a nice sub.

Cadence - Much like Hertz and only been in the country 6 mths they are making some nice gear and have a budget solution to suit all people. Nice looking gear and a good build quality indeed. Also do a flagship level range that is all very nice gear.

Beyond Audio - Great Subs there Piston Series Subbie's kick the s**t.

Polk Audio - Make a great SQ Subbie....

Soundstream - Do really well with subs and amps also....

Infinity - Very nice sounding speakers

Diamond Audio - Again some really good splits in there range but hard to find as they have to be imported from the states.

Nakamichi - Arguably some of the greatest budget SQ decks of all time. Not the best to look at tho.

Image Dynamics - There subs are used by SQ freaks all over and are really good for the task.

Canton - SQ Crossover and Speaker Specialists. Never had much to do with them personally.

Aeropro - Make good neon's

CDT - Loudspeaker and SQ Specialists.
