well i started off with a single kenwood sub ( still have it ) a blaupunkt GTA400 speaker amp with 8 gauge to the amp a kdc 1020 with fully sick jvc 6 inch coaxials

then i went to a second sub.....wired with speaker wire and in series 8@ = 50wrms each

after that upgraded h/u to a 4026 , KFC-605ie splits and 4 way 6x9

after that go sony 1000Wrms mono block (that can go to 1 ohm) with that came 4 gauge to power the sub amp , with the 8 gauge still there.
then came the KDC - 6029

at this point i made my first sub box.... a lot of double addons..*sighs* was meant to be 2 cu ft (54 L) ended up being 3.56cu.ft (96L)

mate one upped me and as the 6029 didnt have aux in i upgraded again to a KDC-X7529

then upgraded 2 subs to KFC-W3514dvc came with it new battery and 14 gauge to the subs

things were going great and 3 days after my birthday and achieving 137.8 in my 929 the subs and h//u were stolen

sold the sub amp for 400 to pay for fines or debt

now just have the old sub in new box 30/31Hz tuned

this was my old setup that i had.

i started out with a tape deck that cost me like 50 bucks and added the good ol car kit to it so i could play cds. after that i installed a cheap cd player that did the job.

after that i had bought a 12 inch mtx sub ( 250 rms) and let that sit at home till i got a second mtx sub, same, and start in building a box. i made it out of chip board cause i had no idea what you used and it was easy to cut.

then i got a amp to drive them. cant even remember what it was. all i remember it was like 800 watts. then i got a sony explode amp and splits combo at pro sound and spent the weekend putting it all in.

i thought it was the best thing but looking at it now is was the biggest bucket of, yeah, ever. but i did ok for 400 bucks. i entered in a comp at jb hi-fi at kotara and we had the pioneer manaro there and the manaro got like 146 or something. keep in mind this was a audio control meter not the term lab. i went in and i got 138 in a sealed home made box. so i was stoked that i beat all of my mates that spent thousands of bucks on there systems. but with me having about 6 years as an audio engineer behind me i knew that i was going to be up with them but never knew i would beat them.

after a bit i got my entire system stolen and was sooo cut. so i thought thats it. im getting something good. so i went to pro sound and said i got 5gz hook me up with something big. so they put me to alpine or clarion. i decided to go for clarion cause of my brother who had the top of the range set of clarion splits from about 5 years ago. they hooked me up with this:-

2 X 12' clarion xw subs
2 X clarion splits
2 X clarion 6' speakers for rears
clarion head unit
640 rms amp to run splits and speakers
1500 rms amp to run subs
sealed box
4g power wire
all installed

they hit the term lab with it and got 139 instantly. the clarion rep from sydney, jeff, seen what happened and he was def impressed and from that moment onward i was well looked after from him.

after that i upgraded my battery to a optima D34 battery and to 2g power cable and still the sealed box. i cracked 140 and got 141db at pro sound comp. but i still wasnt happy with it.

so then i came back and said i want a custom box, second D34 battery, 0g power cable, a second 1500rms amp to run each sub at 1500rms, a capacitor, upgraded my subs to the PXW series.

jeff wanted to see the very first hit with the new setup and he nearly fell over when i hit 144 for first burp. he told me that in his years of working at clarion he never seen a clarion sub launch so hard. but this was like 3 years ago.

i went down to compak attak in sydney where doran were hosting the sound off there where i met leo and the crew and they looked at my setup and they said to me " what the f*** do you have clarion subs?" me being a beginner i didnt know any better i said" cause that what the shop got me". fortunetly for me since i had 2 batteries and outside operation of my head unit i got placed in super road 1-2 class and i was the only one in that class so i won by default. but i got 144.2db and leo was impressed but he still thought i was very limited which i really was.

after that i got talking with the guys from CAAHR:- tom, meg, ray, wrighty, rohan, nick, anthony and i forget the other people. they told me of a comp at raymond terrace that maitland autobarn was hosting. i went back to pro sound and said i need more and they told me that the subs wont take anymore. i said then re tune my box or something. they said they cant. i then got all fired up and said i have spent X amount of dollars here and i am your loudest dual 12' car and you wont come through to keep it there? then they said yeah ok.

so i went up to the comp and punched out 144.6 and was in the final against my good friend tom and i won by i think 3db. keep in mind though his subs were in his boot i think so really is his subs were in the back seat he would have drilled me.

then i got invited to taree to be a clarion rep car at the taree autobarn sound off. i went up there an was def an outsider. all the top cars from taree were in complete comp mode and really hostile setting. all the cars up there were hitting 138-140 and some as low as 132. i pulled up and had my ex girl friend and her sisters and brother to hold down my windows. as i was pulling in i had a sheet over my entire setup. as soon as i revieled it everyones mouth just dropped. and i was surrounded by people. i was announced that i was a clarion demo car and i was up against the loudest car in taree at the time. he had 2 X 15 rockford subs and like 1000 watts and was in a civic.

the count started and he hit his straight away and got 141db and i waited till like 10 seconds to go and hit mine and got 144.6. everyone was like WTF WAS THAT??? after the comp i was the loudest car to ever get through autobarn at taree.

that record was held for 1 year when taree issued a newcastle vs taree sound off, with a little inspiration from myself, and myself and meg represented CAAHR and newcastle. all the guys up there remembered my car and i asked if any car had beat my record and the shop owner said no and not even tuning for this event. so instantly i knew that me and meg would be in the final if all went well. in the end we did end up going against each other and meg beat my record with 147 or something and was very happy to have newcastle and CAAHR take the wins.

after that my final comp was at hexham where i dropped in db and got only 142 or something but still won my class and meg basically moved the earth with her massive burp out of her car that was scary. i thought windows are going to be replaced but it held together.

i had to sell most of my gear due to money problems and have now only got my dual 12' and custom box and a heap of wiring.

but thats my history and hope you enjoyed reading it cause this took me 30 mins to type.LOL

As most of you already know one of my Fusions died in my Apollo but has opened the door to another long awaited project.

I don't know exactly what happened was using it on the way home in the Apollo and heard a flapping sound pulled over and found the surround had removed itself from the cone on one of the two Fusions was a little pissed at first but hey what can you do when its happened.

Sent it away and they don't make that sub anymore so got the new version nothing like the old one but gives me an idea for a project or two.

I've gone through a fair bit of stuff, but i'll see how my memory goes.

My old mazda 626
tape deck, stock 4"
Bro's old clarion headunit
pioneer 4" 2ways front
commodore factory 6" rears

then i added a tiny amp on the rears, cause it was given to me, like, 100watt peak Smile
headunit blew up (smoke came out of it)

got a panisonic mp3 player headunit (had 4 rca's), ran a supercheap 800W amp, got my bros old super cheap sub, 12" in a sealed box, gave me some base finally.

bought a kicker 12", liked it, bought another one, sealed box fitted in with 2 12" sounded ok, super cheap amp was crap

bought my bros 4channel x 60rms coustic amp. put in kenwood 6x9's in customer mdf parcel shelf, they went hard.

ran subs of 2 channels of coustic, 6x9's of other.

got a commodore. swapped everything into it.

got my audio bahn 8000T to run my subs. (monoblock 800rms @2ohm), now i had 6x9s in rear, factory berlina splits in front run off the coustic amp, and my 2 kicker subs off the monoblock.

was happy with this for a while, i decided i would replace the subs when they blew up, so i pushed them hard, but the things never died.

got some kicker splits from jb, finally some decent front stage. tuned everything again, was happy once again.

by this stage my whole system owed me just under a grand, and it was going waaaay better then mates system who had spent heaps more.

Got my current commodore, swapped everything again.

btw, I had being running everything off single 8guage till now
ran a 2nd 8 guage, one for each amp, its what i had, didnt want to buy 4 guage if i had 2x lengths of 8 guage, no point. put it all in, cept this time i kept stock 6"'s in rear, 6x9's no point anyway

scored a new headunit, my current deh pioneer thing, yey, 6xrca's, but a heap of other adjustments, basically a swap, cause a car was being sold, so we relieved it of its audio gear.

got some spare money

bought 2xkicker cvr's dvc @2ohm in a ported box. (400rms each)
spent a weekend with younger bro, wagenz, modding the box to fit in. seemed to be the best i could do to match my amp without spending huge money, got them 20% off at jb, $420 for the pair and box

new subs go way louder then old subs, sold old subs.

now i'm trying to learn how to tune ported system, its very different, and i listen to alot of styles of music, from rock to pop to dance to metal to whatever, so yea, its being a challenge.

never done a sound off, just always enjoyed having my rock songs kick me in the back with each bass drum hit.

had a weird delay on the subs, no idea, as in some songs, such as intial d techno stuff had the kick late. I got new battery termianls and upgraded earths and alternator and all that to 4 guage, off cuts hanging round the shed, and it seems to have fixed the problem.

for the moment happy with my system, apart from the tuning, still working on that.

i need some sound deadening like, everywhere, but meh, too much other stuff to do.

btw enjoyed reading about you guys systems

Yeah all my subs used to kick the crap out of you and just got more and more but we will see what my new setups produce.

I listen to a variety of stuff so it's not just one thing they work on it all everyday.
